Island Liaison staff traveled to DC to take part in the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum's (APIAHF) session to discuss access to healthcare and ongoing decisions about COFA status and Medicaid.

The forum took place from 9-11 September and included meeting with other Native Hawaiian and FAS organizations to hear from leading advocates and speakers encouraging empowerment through storytelling. Throughout the second day, Island Liaison and FAS were present at the Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (NHPI) Caucus session and met with other delegates from Arizona and representatives from the CNMI.

The session concluded with more sharing of stories and hearing from community health advocates, governmental representatives, and other island organization staff.

The forum was not without comradery, food, and sight-seeing. Island Liaison staff met many great organizers and leaders in the community and stopped by the offices of current legislators.
