Island Liaison is committed to serving Pacific Islanders and the broader Arizona community through services in healthcare, education and culture. We encourage our community members to stay engaged through our events and by fulfulling our civic duties.

Pacific Island Empowerment Forum

On 27 April 2019, Island Liaison held it's first official Pacific Island Empowerment Forum. The workshop was open to youth and adults alike, and focused on civic engagement, providing information for college readiness, and going over financial tools to help compose a budget.

APACE Academy

From 10-14 June 2019 students attended the “Summer Leadership” program at ASU Tempe Campus, gaining valuable skills on how to become leaders within and outside our community. Read more.

 

School Supplies Drive

Island Liaison supported the Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC) 2019 NO COST Back-To-School & Sports Physicals summer program. MPHC received school supplies donations from the Community. It is with much gratitude and appreciation that we have for all of your support. Read more here.

Congratulations to Miss Marshall Islands 2019!

Miss Billma Peters, representing the Mejit Atoll, is the winner of the pageant hosted for the first time by the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).

Billma was first involved with Island Liaison through it's ASU partnering summer program, ASIAN LEAD. She later also attended Island Liaison's Women and Girl's Health & Safety Day Summit in 2016, and participated in our 2019 Empowerment Forum.

APIAHF's Dare To Be Brave

From 9-11 September 2019, Island Liaison staff traveled to DC to take part in the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum's (APIAHF) forum to discuss access to healthcare and ongoing decisions about COFA status and Medicaid. The forum included meeting with other Native Hawaiian and FAS organizations to hear from leading advocates and speakers encouraging empowerment through storytelling.

5th Annual Fundraiser

On October 12, 2019, Island Liasion hosted our 5th Annual Celebration and Fundraiser. We appreciate the community celebrating with us our five years as a nonprofit organization.
