Our Mission & Who We Are
Island Liaison is a nonprofit organization based in Arizona which serves as a resource providing awareness of available health and educational agencies, and other government services locally to Pacific Islanders with the focus on people from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau (collectively) known as the Freely Associated States or FAS.
The FAS islanders (living in Arizona) are here in the U.S. under the Agreement of Compact of Free Association (COFA) which allows them to live, work, and freely travel within the U.S. without a visa and with no time restraints. However, these FAS islanders are not U.S. citizens and therefore are not eligible for many federal or state services. Their neighboring Islanders from the U.S. Territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) are U.S. citizens and do have the ability to access many federal or state-funded services.
Island Liaison is a non-profit Tax Exempt 501 (c) (3) Charitable Organization located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Our staff are 100% volunteer-based.
